James Higgins of Bethlehem, Pa. has joined Provident Bank as Senior Vice President, Relationship Manager/Team Leader in the bank’s Commercial Lending Division. He is based in Provident’s Lehigh Valley Regional Office and is responsible for working with local companies in the Lehigh Valley and Western New Jersey markets to originate, evaluate, and structure commercial loan transactions. In addition, Higgins will manage a team of relationship managers and oversee their development, while assisting with portfolio management and cross selling other bank products, as well as increasing the bank’s visibility in the marketplace.

He brings with him extensive knowledge of the market, expertise in lending, and a keen understanding of the credit needs of businesses. Higgins has more than 25 years’ experience in commercial lending, and most recently was Senior Vice President, Team Leader with Sun National Bank where managed a commercial lending office and a team of lenders who booked $100 million in new business over a three-year period. He has also held senior leadership positions with Susquehanna Bank, Bank of America, and PNC. Higgins holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from St. Joseph’s University, Philadelphia, Pa.
