What is the minimum opening deposit for a Provident Basic Checking account?
You may open your account today with a minimum opening deposit of only $50.00.

There is no monthly maintenance fee or minimum balance requirement for this account.
How many free checks are included each month?
We allow six paid checks per month. After the sixth check, the fee is $0.50 per check.
Are there any ATM fees when using non-Provident machines?
No fee is assessed for transactions processed at a Provident-owned ATM using a Provident Debit Mastercard®. Withdrawal transactions processed at non-Provident owned ATMs may result in a fee charged by Provident and/or other ATM service provider(s).
Does the account include a debit card and online banking access?
A Provident Debit Mastercard® is available on all Provident Checking accounts.
Can I set up direct deposit or receive eStatements?
Direct deposit and eStatements are available on all Provident Checking and Savings accounts. We also offer combined statements. A $2.00 monthly fee will be charged if account holders choose to receive paper statements.
How can I open a Provident Basic Checking account – online or in-person?
You can open a Provident Basic Checking account online today, or in-person by visiting any Provident Bank branch.
The applicant’s primary address must be located within Provident Bank’s footprint which includes New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. This footprint restriction does not apply to existing customers or joint account owners provided the primary account holder resides within the Provident Bank footprint. Minor, resident alien and non-resident alien applications should follow the standard branch account opening process.
