The Provident Bank celebrated the grand opening of the NRS Provident Bank at the New Road School of Parlin located at 3071 Bordentown Avenue in Parlin on Wednesday, June, 3. Area Manager, Laura Huderwitz and Relationship Manager Joe Cangelosi participated in the ribbon cutting alongside personnel from New Road School of Parlin.
The purpose of the NRS Provident Bank is to provide students with skills in personal financial literacy. The students will learn how to open checking and savings accounts, use debit and credit cards, manage money, create a budget and learn appropriate spending strategies.
Additionally, students at the New Road School have the opportunity to receive play money during the day based on their behavior and work. They will be able to deposit and withdraw the “money” and manage their accounts at the NRS Provident Bank “branch.”
The New Road School of Parlin serves students with disabilities aging from first grade until age 21. The partnership between New Road School and Provident Bank is one of several transitional programs offered by the school to prepare students for future endeavors either back in a district school or out in their larger community. The NRS Provident Bank program will begin in September 2015.
