Answering Your Questions about Overdrafts and Overdraft Fees
We cover your overdrafts in two different ways:
Standard overdraft practices (Overdraft Privilege-ODP) that come with your account.
Other overdraft protection plans, such as a line of credit or a link to another deposit account, which may be less expensive than our standard Overdraft Privilege. To learn more about these alternatives, contact us.
What are the standard overdraft practices that come with my account?
We authorize and pay overdrafts for the following types of transactions:
Checks and other transactions made using your checking account number.
We do not automatically authorize and pay overdrafts for ATM transactions and everyday debit card transactions unless otherwise specified.
We pay overdrafts at our discretion, which means we do not guarantee that we will always authorize and pay any type of transaction. If we do not authorize and pay an overdraft, your transaction will be declined.
What fees will I be charged if Provident pays my overdraft?
Under our standard Overdraft Privilege-ODP:
We will charge you a fee of $35.00* each time we pay an overdraft.
The total number of insufficient/overdraft fees we can charge you through Overdraft Privilege for overdrawing your account is limited to six (6) fees in one (1) business day. No overdraft fee is charged if the resulting overdraft balance is $5.00 or less.

What if I want Provident to authorize and pay my overdrafts on my ATM and everyday debit card transactions?
